Circle of Eagles

Upcoming solo at Utopian Slumps Gallery, Melbourne.

OPENING FRIDAY 27 MARCH 6 – 9PM
EXHIBITION 28 MARCH UNTIL SAT 11 APRIL

Circle of Eagles is Wallis’ recent musing on time spent in Canada and Melbourne. Wallis is a collector of personal stories and rescued moments, threading them together in visual narratives. In this show triptychs, diptyches and large collages create a sense of narrative, there is a story being told. Imagery seems to ‘know each other’ and exude a comfortable closeness – confidantes perhaps.

Wallis’ work is deeply personal yet the abstract imagery and figurative forms allow the viewer to turn it into their own story Works are evocative of place, sex, loss and grief. Words and art are aching memories to be caught like a fish in a net.
